Panther Valley 54 Kutztown 24

At Kutztown, Richie Smith scored seven touchdowns for Panther Valley (2-1) and a dominating 28-point first quarter powered the Panthers past the Cougars (1-2). Smith ran for 219 yard, including 129 in the first half. One of his seven TDs was a 35-yard interception return. Smith's touchdown runs alone made up 192 of his total rushing yards. The Cougars couldn't catch a break from the Panther defense, which forced three fumbles, recovering two, and came up with three picks. Kutztown's first possesion of the game was cut short when the Cougars fumbled the ball and it was recovered by the Panthers' Cody Sterenchock, setting the Panthers up for Smith's second touchdown of the night. Following another Cougar turnover, Kyle Ferryman snagged a 68-yard touchdown pass from Matthew Levitt to end the 28-0 first quarter run. It wasn't until there were just two minutes left in the half when the Cougars' Tucker Maletta found Bryce Galczynski downfield for a 45-yard touchdown reception to make the score 35-7. Maxwell Randolph kicked a 31-yard field goal with 20 seconds left in the half to make the score 35-10. The first play after the kickoff in the second half was a Maletta pass that was intercepted by Panther Valley's Nathaniel Hrebik. That Panther Valley drive ended in another Smith touchdown run, this one from 36 yards out, to extend the lead to 41-10.
